A dedicated educator, Martha Carpenter started at GPS in August of 2022 as the sixth-grade math teacher. Martha became the Dean of the Sixth-Grade Class the subsequent year. She earned her BA in psychology with a minor in kinesiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she actively contributed to the club swim team. She earned her MS in educational psychology at the University of Memphis. Martha began her career by teaching math and science to seventh- and eighth-graders at Grace-St. Luke's in Memphis, Tennessee, while coaching volleyball and softball. Her journey continued at St. John's School in Houston, Texas, where she taught science to sixth-graders and continued coaching volleyball and softball. She later became the Head Varsity Swim Coach, inspiring her students both in the classroom and in the pool. Beyond her professional endeavors, Martha's heart lies with her family. Her two daughters, Abigail '24 and Caroline '26, have been an integral part of the GPS community, further solidifying Martha's deep-rooted connection to our institution.
