Kipton Lankford Tugman '92 started teaching at GPS in 1999 when we added our first sixth-grade class. She was at GPS for four years and then stepped out to have a family. She returned in 2014 and taught sixth-grade science for many years. While serving as Class Dean for sixth grade, she was integral in redesigning the onboarding process for our newest members of the GPS sisterhood, ensuring our sixth-graders knew all about their new school. She has coached both rowing and swimming. She moved to the Center for Teaching and Learning in 2023 to continue her love of working with middle school students. Kipton received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and then her Master in Secondary Biology Education from UTC. She is currently pursuing a Specialist Degree in school psychology at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa.
