Amanda Byars started at GPS in August of 2020 as Assistant Director of Terpischord, a dance educator for middle and upper school, and producer of performing arts events. In 2023, she was promoted to Director of Fine and Performing Arts. Amanda found her love for modern dance in the GPS studios. She is honored to pass that passion along to the next generation of creative innovators. Before joining the faculty at GPS, she served as Adjunct Professor of Dance at Agnes Scott College; Curriculum Specialist at Moving in the Spirit, a youth development and dance nonprofit; and Pilates Instructor. In her training, she has studied under Melanie Bales, Meghan Durham-Wall, John Giffin, Bebe Miller, Susan Van Pelt Petry, Dr. Andrea Watkins, Ming Yang, and Noa Zuk (Gaga). As an educator, Amanda has presented at many workshops and conferences, the most recent include the National Dance Education Organization Annual Conference, Creative Connections Arts Educators Conference, and the Woodruff Arts Center's Educators Conference.
