Madeline Butler Recognized as National Merit Semifinalist

She advances to the next round of scholarship competition
Last fall, juniors across the nation participated in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Each year, over 1.3 million students take this test, with around 50,000 students recognized for their exceptional academic potential based on their scores.

Of those recognized, 34,000 earn the title of Commended Students, while 16,000 advance as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, competing for a spot in the prestigious Finalist round.

Today, we are proud to announce Madeline Butler as a National Merit Semifinalist. Madeline is a member of GPS Singers, the Literary Society, Tea Club, and the E-Sports team.

National Merit Semifinalists are the top scorers in their respective states, representing less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors.

Madeline will now move forward in the competition for Finalist recognition and the chance to earn a National Merit Scholarship. To reach the next level, she will submit a comprehensive application detailing her academic achievements, extracurricular activities, leadership experiences, and more.

Congratulations to Madeline on this tremendous honor!
