Currently serving as an upper school English teacher and Humanities Department Chair, Katy Berotti first came to GPS in 1994, recruited from teaching college courses to help our nacent Crew program and teach eighth grade English. She quickly demonstrated her value by building more writing in English 8, and soon split her time between middle school and English 10. After an extended leave during which she had two kids (Gareth, McCallie '16 and Blythe, GPS '18) and gained further experience as an online instructor for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, Katy returned to the GPS classroom in 2006. Since then, she's taught English classes at all levels in the upper school, served as English department chair, and served the school and her students in a variety of ways. She strives daily to listen deeply and use her voice thoughtfully, offering both students and colleagues the respect and support that aligns with the GPS mission.
