Augusta Glendenning Webb '98 started at GPS in the fall of 2021 as an admission associate and art teacher. In the fall of 2022 Augusta transitioned out of admissions to full classroom faculty, teaching sixth- and seventh-grade art, Ceramics I and II, and Biblical Ethics. Augusta came to GPS with extensive experience teaching art, from 10 years teaching art at St. Nicholas School and seven years teaching art at Brainerd Baptist School. Throughout her teaching career, Augusta has nurtured a belief that every student possesses inherent creativity. She delights in fostering a classroom environment that encourages students to explore and develop their artistic abilities. Augusta has a deep understanding and appreciation for single-sex education, a value shared by her family. As a parent of four daughters, with her oldest being a fourth-generation GPS student, she recognizes the unique benefits of such an educational setting. Her husband also contributes to this educational community as an admissions officer at McCallie School. Augusta's teaching philosophy centers on the belief that art is for everyone and that every student has the potential to create beautiful art. She views her role as an art teacher as pivotal in helping students gain confidence and find joy in their artistic achievements, which she believes positively impacts other areas of their lives. Her dedication to education extends beyond her professional role; as a teacher, parent, and spouse of an educator, Augusta values the comprehensive growth—academic, social, and physical—that GPS offers. She is committed to the idea that creativity is essential in the development of young women, enhancing their academic pursuits and providing a vital outlet for self-expression and hands-on learning. She is passionate about sharing her love for art and contributing to the vibrant educational community at GPS.
