GPS Head of School Selected for Klingenstein Head of Schools Program

GPS Head of School Megan Cover arrived in New York City over the weekend to begin a two-week long program for independent and international school heads at the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Megan joins leaders from South Carolina, New Jersey, Norway, Virginia, Korea, St. Louis, Michigan, India, Egypt, Connecticut, Oregon, and South Africa in this prestigious program. 

Throughout the two-week fellowship, the cohort will tackle all areas of independent school leadership through collaboration, dialogue, and ideation while problem solving and dreaming about how to best serve students. Megan said, “This is quite an honor, not simply for me professionally, but for GPS. The fully funded program is highly competitive, and participants are chosen based on many different factors, including the mission, values, and vision of the schools in which we serve. I’m excited to share what GPS does so well and learn what we can do even better.”

According to the program’s website, the core curriculum will allow participants to “discuss current educational issues, dive into educational philosophy and ethics, and immerse [themselves] in reflective-practice.” They will also “engage in design thinking and case study work with Klingenstein master's students and visit independent schools in New York City to observe a variety of programs and ideas.”

Megan said, “What an honor it is to be a part of this impressive group, and I look forward to sharing the work we are doing at GPS as I reflect, learn, and grow in my practice.”
