Wendy Warren joined GPS in August 2023 to teach upper school mathematics, bringing with her 29 years of experience from Hamilton County Schools at Hixson High School. During her tenure at Hixson High, Wendy served as Department Chair and Numeracy Coach, where she played a pivotal role in navigating curriculum changes and transforming mathematics instruction. Wendy's contributions to the HCS system include facilitating system-wide inservice sessions, developing curriculum pacing guides, and serving on textbook selection committees. Her dedication to excellence in teaching led her to earn her National Board Certification for Mathematics. Wendy holds a BA in mathematics with a minor in secondary education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an MA in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in mathematics. In her role at GPS, Wendy is committed to sharing her passion for understanding mathematical connections and their applications. She works to foster an engaging learning environment where mistakes are launching points for new learning and students are encouraged to work together to explore mathematical concepts and develop problem-solving skills.
