A long-time GPS computer science, engineering, and math teacher, Jill Pieritz has served GPS in myriad leadership roles. Currently she works to keep the trains running on time as the STEM Department Coordinator. Jill is constantly innovating in her classroom revamping lessons to help her students make authentic, personalized connections to the course material. From creating their own apps in computer science class to mastering the the Quadratic Formula in math, students love Jill’s energy and desire to help each girl reach her full potential. Time and again, students say Mrs. Pieritz goes above and beyond to be available for help and she truly cares about her students. Jill has been instrumental in introducing coding to our girls and models the opportunities the STEM fields offer to women as she herself has been the recipient of the 2012 NCWIT Aspirations in Computer Educator Award. She has been an AP Reader for the AP Computer Science A exam since 2011 and a Table Leader since 2014. She currently is serving on the College Board's AP CS A Lab Development Committee. She was named the GPS Upper School Teacher of the Year in 2015. Outside of school, Jill enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters.
