Elizabeth Bridge Bailey ’58

Teacher, Volunteer, Advocate
Hailing from the Class of 1958, lifelong Chattanooga resident Elizabeth Bridge Bailey has known several titles throughout her years—middle school English teacher, Sunday school teacher, volunteer, board member, advocate—but her proudest is her current title of Grammy. When she’s not busy mentoring her daughter, niece, grandniece, and granddaughters, all of whom are GPS girls in one way or another, she finds time to support the organizations most dear to her such as the Northside Neighborhood House, for which she is currently on the planning committee for the 100th anniversary celebration; Orange Grove; First Centenary United Methodist Church, for which she helped develop a new adult respite-care program; and, of course, GPS. She also helped her son’s family fundraise for a medical-alert service dog for her granddaughter to allow her increased independence and security. In her free time she enjoys learning tips from her grandchildren about texting, emailing, and Zooming.
