Girls Preparatory School - Chattanooga, TN

Coordinate Program

GPS partners with McCallie School in a coordinate program that maintains the strengths of each school's single-gender education program and upholds each school's unique traditions. Designed to appeal to the varied interests of the students, the program offers coordinate opportunities in the fine arts, academic, and social settings. The all-girls and all-boys schools enjoy a calendar of events that provide times for students to meet in well-chaperoned, age-appropriate recreation ranging from dances to retreats, class swaps to community service, and trips to Six Flags or on college tours.

The programs offered in the middle school years are focused on providing opportunities for students to grow in their ability to communicate well and to learn how to establish healthy relationships with young men. The coordinate activities offer venues which are appealing for girls and boys of all interests. To encourage civic and social consciousness and responsibility, the students plan a joint Christmas gift wrapping project among other service-related events. Coordinate theater and choral opportunities, field day activities, joint athletic competitions and a coordinate retreat appeal to the artistic and athletic interests of the youngest GPS students. And, of course, dances, pre-game pizza parties, and occasions to bowl, skate, and just eat ice cream together encourage lifelong friendships between GPS girls and McCallie boys.
